In studying the Qur'an we discover that anyone who has been obedient to the will of God, and accept the latest message of God. Is called a Muslim.

19: The true religion with God is Islam.
Surah 27;- Al-Naml = The Ant,. Rodwell 68 verse 23 - 46 The story of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (Saba). 1500 years before the Prophet Mohammed, they called themselves Muslims.
Surah 3;- The Family of Imran. Rodwell page 97 Verse 52. Even the Apostles of Christ say: "We are God’s helpers, we believe in God and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims." Disciples Christ were living long time before Muhammad, How They could be Moslem! The answer is because Islam has wider meaning. It means any body who believe in the latest messenger of Allah. As mankind is growing and conditions are changing, Allah sends us Messengers ( Manifestations) from age to age to bring us more suitable teachings for each age. Therefore if the Bab be the Mahdi only people who accept Him are Moslem. Two different days of Judgment. One for individuals just after death and one for nations after about 1000 years. Surah 10, Yunis (Jonah) Rodwell 84-Verse 47 " To every ommat (nation or people) there is (sent) an Apostle. When He comes among them they are judged with justice. They are not wronged." Therefore the day of judgment is the day that later messenger of God comes.
Surah 40. The Believer (The Forgiving One). Ghafir. Rodwell 78 Verse 78 "...and it is not possible for any Messenger to bring any verse save by the leave of God...." |
Some have translated "‘A'yeh..." to signify miracles but the verse is speaking of the Cause of God. The same verse is revealed in the Surah of Ra'd ( Thunder) - 13. Rodwell 40 verse 38, speaking about the Book, shows that "‘A'yeh" means revealed word of God.
In the sight of God the most convincing miracle and the most brilliant proof is the book itself.
Surah 29. The Spider. Al-’Ankabut. Rodwell 81-Verse 51
."Is it not enough for them that we have sent down to them the Book to be recited to them for their instruction? Surely in this there is a blessing and an abomination to true believers."The Book is the only proof and miracle that every generation can see and study. Messengers of God has not claimed that They are magicians. They claimed to be the Messenger of God. So we must see what Message They had brought us. But, alas, the people want magic from the Messengers of God. They persecute the followers. To this testify the Qur'an.
Surah 17. The Night Journey. Al-Isra’-Verse 90. "And they said.’By no means will we believe in Thee until Thou cause a fountain to gush forth for us from the earth, or cause rivers to flow in a grove of palms and vines....... Thou mount up Into heaven, nor will we believe In thy mounting-up, till Thou send down to us a book which we may read." Say, praise be to my Lord!. Am I more than a man?, an apostle?"
